In the United States, fast food restaurants such as McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s, and Chick-Fil-A are popular dining options for all people.  In rural Liberia, food vendors line the streets to sell roasted cassava, roasted corn, and roasted meat for a quick meal.  The young man under the Cellcom umbrella is helping his mother Yatta to roasted cassava and ripe plantain, which he sells to pedestrians for $10 Liberian dollars.  This is equivalent to $0.15 cents. The roasted cassava and plantain are served with butter and is quite yummy when served hot.  Yatta, a recipient of Balama Development Alliance microloan loan, now has two businesses that include a cook shop and a roasted cassava stand that her oldest son operates.  These businesses are now this family’s primary source of income, and they were made possible through seed money that was donated  to the family as micro-loan.
